The Probus Club of Tea Tree Gully was formed in 1984 with the Club's first meeting being held on 16 January 1984 at the Modbury Hotel. Incorporation followed at a later date.
The Club has been a Combined Club since August 2003 when a Notice of Motion was passed to allow women members.
It was not until August 2009 that a Probus Club of Tea Tree Gully Inc. meetings was first held in Tea Tree Gully proper. All the other years the meetings have been held in Modbury, Hope Valley, and near surrounding areas, but all within the Tea Tree Gully Council area.
MEMBERSHIP is open to anyone who is retired or semi-retired, looking for fun, and to enjoy fellowship and to meet new friends.
MEETINGS Our meetings are held at People Church, 1323 North East Road, Tea Tree Gully, on the first Monday of each Month, at 9:15 am for a 9:30 am start. Visitors will be met at the door and introduced. (No meetings are held in January.)
ACTIVITIES fall into three parts:
(1) A formal meeting each month consisting of a Club business session, a coffee break where members can mix and catch up with old and new friends, followed by a guest speaker. Those wishing to, can go for lunch after the meeting to a local hotel or restaurant chosen by the Vice President or in the case of July and December by the outing's leader.
We aim to choose a venue which offers value for money, eg seniors specials, or you may wish to select and order from the main menu. The venue for the day is announced in the bulletin and also on the day of the meeting where names are taken of those who want to attend so we can book for the right number of members.
(2) Outings to places of interest to members eg theatre, museums, gardens, restaurants, etc.
(3) Groups, eg Theatre Group, Walking Group, Card Group, a Dinner Group, Songbird Singing Group and a Men and a Ladies Coffee Group.
These Groups meet at various dates and times to suit the needs of members. We welcome and encourage new Groups to be formed.
MEMBERSHIPS The Probus club of Tea Tree Gully Inc. is limited to 120 members. At times there may be a waiting list to join, but once you submit an application, you are welcome and encouraged to join in all activities of the club. Membership is open to retired or semi-retired men and women.

MEMBERSHIP FEES at present are $20 per year with a once only joining fee of $20. A fee of $5 is charged at each meeting to cover meeting costs, tea or coffee and biscuits.
